FAQ – Mediation
What is mediation exactly?
Mediation is a guided negotiation. A neutral third party helps both sides work toward a resolution without a judge making the decision.
Who hires the mediator?
Either party can hire the mediator, or both sides can agree to work with one. We often work with attorneys looking for a fair third party.
Is mediation legally binding?
It can be. If both sides reach an agreement, it can be formalized into a legally binding settlement.
How long does mediation take?
Many cases resolve in just a few hours or one day. More complex disputes might take longer.
Do I still need a lawyer?
Mediation doesn’t require a lawyer, but having one can help you understand your rights. We also serve as mediators for attorneys representing clients.
